Transportation Projects

Transportation services is a critical concern of any city, whether a metropolitan area addressing urban sprawl or a smaller community dealing with neighborhood growth. For almost two decades, KHAFRA has worked with state and regional agencies, private developers, county governments and municipalities to resolve various transportation concerns. Policy and community issues are resolved through the development of partnerships with public and client agencies to determine the best solutions.

KHAFRA's diverse modal engineering project experience includes: highway/roadway designs (including bridge design and inspections), airport design, rail and transit system design, and construction management and inspection.

ST. MARY'S RIVER BRIDGE WIDENING OVER I-95
Camden County, GA

KHAFRA was a member of the Heath & Lineback Engineers team selected by the Georgia Department of Transportation to determine how the existing structures – parallel bridges – could be corrected to withstand the potential scouring, eliminate the effects of the deterioration and complete the design for widening of the structure. In addition, KHAFRA performed QA/QC, CADD drafting and project engineering quantities on this project.

EXTENSION OF RUNWAY 5-23
Birmingham, AL

KHAFRA provided electrical design on the modification and upgrade of runway 5-23. This included the edge lights, the runway centerline and touchdown zone lighting, and taxiway lighting. The project scope included the technical specifications, lighting layout, circuit design, field vault modifications, power and control design, installation details, quantity takeoffs and construction costs.

NORTH FULTON AND SOUTHWEST FULTON INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
Fulton County, GA

KHAFRA provided design services for eight intersection improvements in north Fulton and six intersection improvements in southwest Fulton County. KHAFRA's staff reported directly to the ARCADIS Geraghty & Miller project manager and worked closely with the Fulton County Construction Program Management personnel.
